Amazing experience

I had a really amazing experience at NLA. Matt and Jeanae are very caring, friendly people and they run their retreat in a very professional manner. I was always well taken care of with great food and really comfortable rooms with a private bathroom. The house where the retreat is held is a really beautiful space to spend a week relaxing and taking part in the ceremonies. The ceremonies themselves usually have no more than 8 people and are really well guided by Matt with an additional 2 other people acting as ‘carers’ to assist people if they need anything. It’s always best to do your own research when deciding on which retreat to go to because drinking plant medicines isn’t always an easy journey. But I can honestly say that NLA is a great place to start if you’re looking for a safe, comfortable place to partake where you’re guided in caring, professional hands at all times.

Beautiful property set on top of the mountain, offering spectacular views of the ocean and Costa Rica landscape. Small group size to share a week of interpersonal transformation. Private rooms with comfortable beds, home cooked meals, clean environment, and bonding time helped add trust, safety, and relaxation to the experience. If you are considering taking the ayahuasca journey, Matt and Janae offer the perfect environment for you!

After spending a week here at the retreat all I can say is that I had an amazing time. The food was very high quality, fresh and interesting and following the correct diet needed. The property is stunning with large clean areas inside and out to mingle with other guests or the private rooms with private bathrooms and large and airy and very comfortable. There is hiking trails, a large swimming pool and hot ub which were very nice. The ceremony’s were very good, strong medicine and done in an authentic way as is done in Peru. My first time drinking Ayahuascha and I definitely picked the right place, only 8 people per ceremony which is perfect for what I wanted. The owners Matt and Jeanae were very friendly and helpful with everything and a big shout out to Drew who helps out, had some great chats with him and he’s very funny

The Healing Power of Plants

sacred medicineEver since the dawn of mankind, humans have used sacred medicine and plants for healing of the mind, body and spirit. The use of plants as medicine predates written history, but in written record, the use of herbs dates back 5,000 years. The Sumerians had written record of plants and their uses, and the Egyptians had an extensive list of over 800 recorded plant medicines. Many ancient cultures who practiced the art of healing with plants had members of the village who were known as medicine men or shaman. Many shaman believe that each plant has a unique spirit that can be communicated with. At New Life Ayahuasca, we believe this to be true. Through our work with both iboga(ine) and ayahuasca we have felt the presence and personality of both their spirits and we have seen what incredible potential both of these unique plant medicines are capable of.

Both ibogaine and ayahuasca have been used in ceremonial settings in their respective native origins for centuries, if not longer. Each plant medicine has a set of traditions and ceremonial practices that surround their use. At New Life Ayahuasca, we strive to respect these traditions and proved as authentic an environment as possible when consuming these medicines. Learn more about the similarities and differences of ibogaine and ayahuasca.

Kambo is different from both ibogaine and ayahuasca in that it is not plant-based and it is not psychedelic, but it is another sacred medicine that has been used for thousands of years by the indigenous people of the Amazon and has its own incredible healing potential.

Ayahuasca Vs. Iboga

Ayahusaca

Ayahuasca is a brew whose use originated in the Amazon, specifically Peru. Ayahuasca is consumed in a ceremonial setting, guided by a shaman. Each part of the ceremony has a specific purpose and aids in the spiritual journey. When consumed, ayahuasca produces both open and closed eyed visions usually pertaining to nature and the meaning of life. There is a diet associated with ayahuasca that is implemented to show respect for the medicine and spiritual process. Ayahuasca is used to aid in healing both physical and psychological disorders gaining recognition through out the West in treating depression, addiction and PTSD.

Iboga

Iboga is a psychedelic derived from the root of the Tabernathe Iboga shrub. It is used as a sacrament by practitioners of Bwiti, a spiritual tradition originating in West Africa. Iboga is used as a rite of passage into adult hood and for communication with ancestors. Iboga, or more specifically, the derivative ibogaine, has more recently been praised for its ability to alleviate withdrawal symptoms from opiates and healing of the brain. This powerful plant medicine has since been gaining popularity in the West for its abilities in treating drug addiction and other conditions of the mind such as anxiety, depression and PTSD. It is traditionally consumed in a ceremonial setting but many ibogaine clinics do not implement these ceremonies or spiritual traditions. New Life Iboga feels the best way to experience iboga(ine) is by incorporating Bwiti traditions and ceremonies that have traditionally surrounded the use of iboga(ine) for hundreds of years.
